Reflection
Last time I practiced Metta I found it to be quite destabilizing. Cate Hall writes about being aware of your default shape, my default shape is a vaguely sad cynic. So spending 10-12 mins just focusing on cultivating joy felt really strange and foreign to me. Hopefully it’s something I get used to over time. Here’s some anchors I used to cultivate joy.
- May I be safe
- May I live with ease
- I get to be a Dyke!
- May I be calm
- Thinking about petting my friends cat
I’ve been reading A Guide to Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation and have been focusing on putting on what they talk about into my practice. Metta feels really foreign to me but also kind of good? Like I found myself smiling and lightly chuckling to myself which again is like pretty foreign to me.
